>Pick lists and such get pulled down and populated as needed. The type of querying you are doing in the grid is definately not recommended. They should enter a search criteria of some kind (last name, customer number, etc) and then pull the records that meet that request.

Thanks, that makes good sense.

I am first doing the N-Tier part and then will tackle the data efficiency part. I am trying to convice my client to get Web Connect and was even thinking about Xml. I would go to a frame work but need to convice them of the expense of the Web Connect first. I know what you are going to say - My labor is FAR more expensive than the frame work, and your right but you know how the world works ... (besides going to the frame will also involve going to class on it if I intend to do it right). "Small steps Ellie. Small steps." (Contact).

Thanks again for the help.

>>I have been given a totally simple project to pump out and am going to use it as an oportunity to go to a middle data handling tier. I want to use Jim Booth's article "Building Middle Tier Objects in Visual Foxpro". In it he offered a simplified data handler object. The article as far as it went presents no problem to me but as always the devil is in the detials.

It is impossible to make programs idiot proof. Idiots are too cleaver.
