We run into the same type of issue with out client/server app. I give the user plenty of fields to filter on and display the results in a grid. From there, you could still apply your "fast find" system if you like. If the user really wants to see all records, I provide a Show All button.

I would go to a frame work but need to convice them of the expense of the Web Connect first. I know what you are going to say - My labor is FAR more expensive than the frame work, and your right but you know how the world works ... (besides going to the frame will also involve going to class on it if I intend to do it right). "Small steps Ellie. Small steps." (Contact).

Craig will probably say it too, but COMCodeBook (www.comcodebook.com) might be ideal for what you are trying to do, plus it's free.
