>Yes, it is "some trip." I've been waiting for a conference that coincided time-wise and coast-wise, w/other plans and this is finally it...it's my first. I'm makeing a 2 month trip out of it (work is at a minimum these days, anyway). Only thing is, San Diego might be a little cold for me!

Jill;

Only you know if San Diego will be cold for you. Being a fourth generation San Franciscan, I find San Diego perfect! Now, one thing you don't expect is to have the beach overcast all summer long. That is the way of life. At least you can go in the water - if you like jelly fish! The ocean water at San Francisco as you know is too cold to swim in, unless you have a wet suit. Then again we do not have jelly fish, only great white sharks!

Try to see "Old Town" if you get a chance, the original Spanish settlement - it is a lot of fun. I love to visit the Spanish Missions - all 21 of them in fact. San Luis Rey is my favorite in Oceanside near Vista, just North of San Diego. The Spanish Missions helped to bring European civilization to California. Some might argue it destroyed the way of life of the Indians. I think freeways have done a better job of that!
