A very smart buddy of mine did the compiler for the DSP on RSX. 167 bit instruction "word", 16 bit data, integer FFT's, yadeda. A lot of fun that project was. Sounds cool! I used to work at a place that did a scanner for printed circuit board artwork and could create the drill tape (paper tape) for manufacturing same. It was a real trip trying to drag these shops into the '70's, and accepting their drill "tapes" on floppy disks. They had to be able to "see" the data in order to believe it!

I then moved onto some work on VAX 750's, and did some work on 730's, but there was no comparison. I think we paid about 140K for the 750, but I think I saw one at some DEC surplus outfit a couple of months ago for $1500 bucks (included 5 VT102 terminals)! FORTRAN, the *only* way to program... LOL!
