Hmmm... You "penguins" must use different terminology. :) In Windows Land, "ripping a CD" is taking music off an audio CD and putting it into MP3 (or similar) format.
100MB? Yeah, that would be a problem only being able to cap 3 seconds of video at a time!
Interesting hearing that people are capping on linux boxes. I've never met anyone that does before. What formats can it handle? I'm guessing not WMV. :)

The tool of choice is Broadway 2000, which is free, but there are several others. The biggest problem currently is with Athlon chips that have the 'southpark' problem that interfers with capturing files of lengths greater than 100MB. Kernel solutions are now out.
