Check out Compaxion by XiTech (the makers of Cryptor, ReFox and FoxFix). It compresses an entire directory into a single file, but accessing it is transparent. That is, you can open a table inside this compressed file with the USE command, for example, without having to decompress it first. The price you pay is speed.
