>I'd be a lot more comfortable if Ken were overall VFP manager or manager for product development. This is a better than nothing move by MS, but it also sounds a little like a cosmetic rather than a real fix.

I disagree. Robert and Ricardo have done a great job. Quite honestly, if those guys had not been involved all these years, I doubt VFP would be where it is today. In fact, I don't know if it would be unfair to suggest that VFP might not exist.

This is a new role for Ken, his current marketing experience notwithstanding. I would strongly caution against drawing conclusions that this is anything but great news. Instead, I would keep an open mind and suggest going down the path that he does have the the tools and support necessary to succeed in his new position. With that said, and Microsoft being like any other company, Ken will not be untethered. There are going to be limits to what he can do, just as there are limits to what any other MS employee can do.

The combination of Ricardo, Ken, and Robert's continuing involvement is good news. For one thing, Ken is going to have the benefit of Robert's counsel over time. And don't forget that Ken has worked on the VFP team before. If anybody knows what VFP needs, Ken does. More importantly, Ken is smart enough to know that he is going to need the support of us, and with that in mind, he has already reached out.

Let's stay 100% focused on the positive aspects of this. Be patient and let Ken get adjusted to his new role. If things don't happen right away, that should not be construed as being a bad thing or Ken nothing having the requisite authority. You will see progress!!
