>>Nope. One thing I didn't want to happen was to become climatized. Besides, I firmly believe that one's resistance to the cold is largely a state of mind.

>I've been in temperatures of -48 with 90-mph winds. With survival gear we were allowed to go outside for not more than 90 seconds. I think than more than ones state of mind was involved in this case.

It's been my experience that when people think that it's cold out, they tend to tense up. However, I've found that when it's been my instinctive reaction to do so, if I may a conscious effort to relax, then I'm warmer. I think it's something to do with inhibiting the blood flow when one is tense.

>I get a kick out of the tourists that visit San Francisco in July with shorts. Man we do have some great fog! These same folks will tell me that “-15 in the Mid West is not cold” but “Winter in San Francisco is too cold”. Now if they would only stay at home and not move here!

My wife and I honeymooned in San Francisco in July. It was wonderful!
