When you say you "have to" shut down the program, do you mean you didn't see any other way, the program crashes when you try to switch, or you aren't seeing the change take effect until you restart?
We do exactly what you're talking about, without the user having to leave the system. Users sign into the system using MM security. Immediately afterward, they must select a Client from the bridge linking each user and the Clients to which they have access. At that point, we filter the MetaDBC to show only the default database (Our "common.dbc") and the client-specific one they selected. After that, it's just a matter of shutting down the previous client's dbc and opening the new one.
