>>Ford analogy

Perhaps a more accurate model would be:

1. I pay $16,000 or whatever for a new Ford Focus

2. Ford 'licenses' the right to use this car, but doesn't allow me to 'own' it.

3. Ford is under no obligation to fix any of the defects that emerge during the first several months that I own the car

4. (Under the emerging model for software services), Ford decides on its own when I no longer have the right to use the car, and requires me to 'upgrade' to a new car in 18 months. The new car will presumably be free of the defects present in item #3.

5. Repeat 1-4 until customer questions his own sanity.
