Once you a have a drive letter mapped to the location, use CONFIG.FPW to set your default to that location and FoxPro will not care that it is a TCP/IP connection or any other type of networking for that matter. I have a production application that runs from one of our NT servers which uses Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths to the files and works fine. The server is in Harrisburg, PA and we have users in various buildings here and some at a facility in North Carolina.

Barry,

Could you explain the advantage(s) of using UNC over mapped drives? Does it save having to use up a connection (a login) to the server?

Mapped drives are handy because they are platform and protocol independent as Roxanne mentioned.

Could you point me at a resource that describes UNC?
