Once you a have a drive letter mapped to the location, use CONFIG.FPW to set your default to that location and FoxPro will not care that it is a TCP/IP connection or any other type of networking for that matter. I have a production application that runs from one of our NT servers which uses Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths to the files and works fine. The server is in Harrisburg, PA and we have users in various buildings here and some at a facility in North Carolina.

We are using a Windows NT server for our application and therefore each workstation client has a license to connect to as many servers as needed. If you were using a Netware server, you would be using a connection to the server. One big problem with mapped drives is determining an available drive letter for mapping to. With large networks, this can be a problem if a user is running multiple applications, each requiring different mapped drives.

You should be able to find info on UNC at microsoft's web site, for starters.
