> I got this message when I tried to create a database with the same name (I have set safety off). Then I tried to delete files from Windows Explorer and got file access is denied. After bunch of e-mails involving our Network Administrator and few other people, we found, who locked it. Unfortunately, the same name was used for two computers. Anyway, rebooting workstation with the same name did the trick. However, I had the same situations couple of times in the last few months, so I'd like to have a general and simple control from my workstation.

I experienced situations where I had problems deleting data files located on a Novell network if they are flagged as shareable and transactional. The reindex utility I developed (it drops and reconstructs all tags) suddendly stopped working after the data files were flagged as transactional. I got around this problem by temporarily removing the flag for the reindex duration.

Novell has a free SDK kit that you can use to develop utilities. I wrote a few but, as I was paid to develop them, I left all the source code with the client.
It's sad because I could use some of them at my new client site.
