George,

I run into the same problem a few days ago after using a powerful new icon editor (IconEdit Pro). Suddenly the icons didn't show-up in explorer anymore. Instead of my own icon, the fox head appeared. When I used one of the icons that shipped with VFP, everything worked ok. But when I opened the same icon with IconEdit Pro and saved it without having made any modifications, the icon didn't show-up anymore in explorer. I found the same information you and Sergej suggested to Randall on the Net. What I find strange is that the icon on its own shows-up in explorer. Is this an issue with VFP?

Once I knew that the icon must contain both formats (32x32 and 16x16), I tried to create such an icon with IconEdit Pro. However, I found no way of doing this. The only way I got this to work was by using the very old icon editor that shipped with VFP5 (Imagedit.exe). I found many references on the internet, but no place to download it. I had to restore an old backup to get this editor back. How do you guys create your icons. Am I missing something?

Thanks

>>I did added the icon in the project manager. I only saw it when I ran the EXE up in the top left hand corner. The icon for the shortcut stayed the same. Does this have any thing to do with the two sizes you were talking about? The icon I have I download from somewhere. I have no idea what size it is.

>Sounds like the _SCREEN.Icon. I meant in the Project Info dialog that appears when you select that option from the Project menu. The first tab, labeled Project, has options for the Author, Company, etc. There's a check box on the page labeled "Attach Icon". When that's check, an open file dialog will allow you to specify the icon.

>I wrote and FAQ about this (and the 16x16 and 32x32 icons). As I recall the title was something like "How to add an icon that will appear in the Windows Explorer". Click my name, then contribution summary, to find it.

>Famous? Infamous is probably more like it.:-) Seriously, I've written stuff for Advisor and VFUG. You may recall it (my name) from one of those sources.
