>Tell me it isn't so. We have a complex query incorporating 4 INNER JOINS, 3 LEFT JOINS, a grouping and having clause, with a WHERE in there somewhere. It has been debugged in VFP 6 and returns the correct information. Against a particular dataset, it returns 5 records when running from the application in development mode. When the same app compiled in VFP 7 is run against the same data set, it returns 0 records. The query was segregated into a standalone program focused on the same dataset. When the segregated .prg was run in VFP 7, it returned 0 records. Run the same .prg in VFP 6 (recompiled), it returns 2 records. Even after restarting the machine (on the theory that somehow VFP 7 cached the query that VFP 6 ran thereafter), the .prg returns 2 records. When the application is then run in development mode against the same dataset, it returns two records. After restarting the machine, running VFP 6 in the application mode, we get back to 5 records returned. Run the .prg in VFP 6, get
>5 records. Run the .prg or the application in VFP 7, get 0 records. Go back and run the .prg in VFP 6, only 2 records returned again for as long as the machine's session is up.

Hello Bill,

I am wondering if you can tell me about where you are in your development cycle?

There is a significant bug fix in V7.0 of which we would like to take advantage. We have a very large project where we have released Phase I, have a Phase II about ready to release and hope to release Phase III soon. We absolutely need the fix for our Phase III. We would love to move the project over to V7.0 but we would like to find out if anyone else has been successful in that regard. And specifically what problems have been encountered. (I have read the other messages on this topic, so at least have that information available.)

Also, I would like to know what experiences people have running on a server where some users have moved to V7.0 and others are still on V6.0. (I think I have found one problem with that scenario but am still trying to define it definitively prior to sharing it.) I suspect that I would like to have the developers move to V7.0 on their test system while leaving the users on V6.0 until we have tested to our satisfaction.

(FYI the testing that I have done so far is on a discrete system so has not affected our actual V6.0 installation to date.)

Any feedback from your experiences would be helpful. Also if you know of anyone else who is attempting this whose name you could provide, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks much,
Nancy
