Nancy,

We are releasing this product in VFP 6 and are upgrading to VFP 7 because we are just out of the box and don't want to have to come back later and do another upgrade. The problem we described in this thread appears to manifest itself in VFP 7 because of the general tightening of query syntax that appears to have taken place between VFP 6 and VFP 7. We traced the problem to the second join of the same table which looks in on itself and does produce some null results. If we remove that join from the first query, requery the cursor with that join on the second pass, we get the same result in 6 as we do in 7. Therefore, we don't believe that we can categorize it as a new bug since there is one bug already pointed out as it relates to null results on queries. Other than that we haven't had any problems running the program compiled in 7 on 6 libraries (we haven't incorporated any 7 new features in the project yet) and we are just getting around to incorporating some of the 7 changes which will require us to then distribute the 7 libraries. That's all I can give you now but I think all here would be appreciative if you spot anything that you think we should be aware of so we can anticipate workarounds until MS fixes them.

Thanks,

Bill

>There is a significant bug fix in V7.0 of which we would like to take advantage. We have a very large project where we have released Phase I, have a Phase II about ready to release and hope to release Phase III soon. We absolutely need the fix for our Phase III. We would love to move the project over to V7.0 but we would like to find out if anyone else has been successful in that regard. And specifically what problems have been encountered. (I have read the other messages on this topic, so at least have that information available.)

>Also, I would like to know what experiences people have running on a server where some users have moved to V7.0 and others are still on V6.0. (I think I have found one problem with that scenario but am still trying to define it definitively prior to sharing it.) I suspect that I would like to have the developers move to V7.0 on their test system while leaving the users on V6.0 until we have tested to our satisfaction.

>(FYI the testing that I have done so far is on a discrete system so has not affected our actual V6.0 installation to date.)

You're only as good as your last
success, so . . .If it works. . .don't fix it!
