Correct me if I am wrong: in general, the history of Canada seems to be relatively pacific, compared to the US.

Well Canada hasn't really 'started' any fights - we are too small for that kind of stuff anyway and with only U.S./USSR (Russia now, of course) on our borders, you get the picture < s >. [we also have two small islands that are part of France immediately south of Newfoundland].

The war of 1812-1814 with the U.S. was really a British war as there was no official "Canada" at the time.

But in both world wars our entry into those conflicts was instantaneous with Britain's, as were other countries under Britain's rule (for lack of a better word). We participated in the Korean war too.

We had no "Indian Wars" in Canada, yet our native population suffered badly in other ways.

But over the last 50 years or so our main focus has been UN peacekeeping activities. We did participate in the Gulf War and the Kosovo thing (was it a 'war'?).

I don't know that this adds up to "pacific". Probably it does, but I guess that is for others to decide.
