Please excuse my ignorance of Canadian History in general. Probably I was mainly thinking of the fact that Canada usually does NOT appear in the world news. As far as I can remember, of course. For instance, in the Gulf War, you stated that Canada did participate. However, the Canadian participation wasn't emphasized in the news, and I didn't hear about it before.
