We were there, as were many other countries that didn't make the news.
I believe that our role in the Gulf war was assisting with the sea embargo as well as providing support services to naval forces. There may have been more.
Canada rarely makes international news. Such news always focuses on negative events. When we have such events they are most often natural disasters or terrible accidents. Sometimes the death of a prominent Canadian will make the international news.
To add a political comment here: if the international news would focus on the good deeds done by people throughout the world, I dare say that the U.S. would monopolize that news even far more than they appear regularly now.
