When I was a lad some 44 years ago living in SOuthern California we used to have the Brassero program. They would bus the fellow in or let them love locally for a while and they would harvest our crops.

I have very mixed feelings over all of this. I suppose if we hadn't spent the last 30 years killing over 30 million of our own in the abortion mills we wouldn't have to import the labor. Having said that I would wish that the border were wide open in both directions. There are just as many legal restrictions on Americans in Mexico as there are on Mexicans here in the US. Still,, these have to be some of the sweetest, hardest working people I have ever met. My uncle owned a company called "Mojave Foods" up in Los Angeles until he sold it about 15 years ago. He wouldn't hire anglos - only latinos. I grew up in a culture that deeply cared for our neighbors to the south and we always worried/wished that they would somehow get their financial act together so they could enjoy the same level of life we did.

As far as drugs go, I suppose more come from the south than from the north but I'd say that all of our borders are like swiss cheese... <g>
