Dimitris,

Any information you have on JDE would be greatly appreciated. We don't know what the best interface with JDE would be. We assume COM would be however if XML makes more sense, we could investigate that.

We are mainly interested in placing orders through the internet. I have already developed an application with VFP6 and Westwind that allows our customers to view availability and order status. Our JDE implementation is using Oracle as a database so my application queries the proper Oracle tables and displays the information back to the end-user.

Our in-house customer support staff likes our web interface to JDE better than the JDE fat client because it's quicker and designed to their specs.

I also have created a web shopping cart module using VFP6 and Westwind so our customers can order on-line. This includes realtime availability, right-to-buy logic and our own pricing module. All this info is pulled off of the Oracle tables real-time, however the logic is in VFP. I am also using VFP tables to store the customer's items.

However, we cannot release our shopping cart module until we know how to send the info back into JDE the proper way. Quering from Oracle is one thing, but we feel we need to use JDE business functions to write orders into the system to ensure all tables get updated properly.

We have been in contact with JDE but they have not been of much use to us.

Any info you have would be great. Also, if there are any questions you would like to ask me, just let me know.

Thanks,

Jerryt

>We are implementing JDEdwards in our Company. I ivestigated the various interoperability options that JDE offers. At first i thought Com interoperability was the best solution but then digging into JDE documentation and their knowledge Garden i discovered that interoperability through XML is better and easier to implement (if you find out how to implement it) and in the long run more open and supported ... I have tested calling various business functions and it seems to work as expected. The main problem know remains to find knowledgable people to tell you which are the appropriate business functions to call, which parameters to pass, how to use transactions with them e.t.c. You can use the xml interoperability module through some dlls, which I discovered and are not documented for use with any other tool than Visual C++. I have made wrapper VFP classes for them. If you are interested on developing interfaces to JDEdwards i can pass you any experience i have. I am also interested on
