Al,

I get similar behaviour with Win98SE using Intellimouse Explorer (software version unknown). IE 5.5 SP2.

BUT I*do* have to stay in the listbox control for that to happen. That is, I drop it down, move the mouse elsewhere and click, move the mouse back over the control, then wheel. Doing this OPENS News in my case, in a separate window.

I also get erratic click behaviours with this mouse on this machine. Examples:
1) If I d-click the control box (top left) of the second opened IE window it often closes the window as expected AND brings up the menu sitting behind it.
2) If in Windows Explorer I click on a "-" (node already expanded) the damned thing will stay expanded but MOVE (usually to the top). A second click on the "-" then works, but of course I have to move the mouse and do it again.

Neither happens all the time, but usually stays once started.

Jim
