Hey gang,

Here's my prob. My sister bought a used Compaq 4706 PC with no software or docs. Her hard drive died. I replaced it for her, but had to order and install Compaq QuickRestore kit. I am in the middle of QuickRestore and Windows 95 want Certificate of Authenticity number. What do I do?

I tried to call Compaq tech support but they want $39.95 to answer a question. I tried to use the Compaq knowledgebase on their website, but could not find an answer to this one. I sent them an e-mail with this question, but got a reply back that I message went to their webmaster because it crashed. I called the number where I ordered the Restore kit, but they gave me the tech support 800 number.

I could put in some replacement Windows 95 number, but that would be illegal. I am stuck in the mud. Thanks for the help.
