I have been following this thread today and decided to give my 2 cents worth. I think this falls under caveat emptor [buyer beware]. She did not get the original software that came with the machine, and as a former Compaq computer buyer, I do know all this came with the PC along with the Win95 licence and Certificate of Authenticity. However, since she did not get this, the previous owner has technically retained ownership of that license unless there was some other kind of agreement. I would just take some of the money she saved and go buy a Win2K or WinME full version. IMHO, she will be better off than going with Win95.

I sent them an e-mail with this question, but got a reply back that I message went to their webmaster because it crashed. I called the number where I ordered the Restore kit, but they gave me the tech support 800 number.
