I think OE does this by default, as well. So, unless you've changed these settings you should just need to manually start up your mail client (by itself, not through IE).
Just created a mailto: link in a VFP7 .prg file, control-clicked it, and got the message "VFP cannot find the file specified". I understand the beta client didn't unregister itself when it was uninstalled, since VFP is still looking for it. IE also complained it couldn't find the mailer. Only Netscape works with mailto links, because it uses its own mailer.
Seems to be I'll have to look for it in the registry and blank the value. I hoped there was an easier way.
