Hi Jim,

Agreed on the being wrong part. I believe ( IMO :-) ) that more genuine credibility can be established over time ( both at the individual and corporate level ) by appropriately admitting when an error has been committed than trying to cover it up, ignore it, become defensive, etc. People have an uncanny ability to discern an honest and genuine attitude, and after all, no one is right all the time, individually or corporately. :-)

In Gartner's case regarding VFP, I would think they don't need to say anything about times past. Today is what counts and an appropriate review of VFP's capabilities and how it fits into today's corporate environment would seem to be at least reasonable ... IMO. :-)
