I think your management will be much better off defining a complete set of tools based on the components that need to be developed. Then define the best tool to develop those components regardless of what someone's crystal ball is saying. I would much rather have solution developed with the best tool than something creating with work arounds because a product may or may not be supported 5 years from now. Besides a tool set should constantly be evolving with the technology.

I agree with you, and overall, I tihnk that is the approach being taken. Future life span was just one of the criteria. I hope that once we get them some supplementary material it will be clear that the future of any tool cannot be totally secured, and that VFP's future is as bright as any. Once that is done, I tihnk VFP's other merits should speak for themselves...
