I'm hoping someone can help me out with some advice on selecting a SQL server system.

We've got a fairly complex VFP 7 app which has one of its tables suddenly growing way beyond previous expectation, quickly approaching the 2 Gig limit (1-2 months).

This app will be replaced in 7 months, and we don't want to put a lot of programming effort into it unnecessarily. SQL Server is one of our options. What we are also being asked to look at is Adaptive SQL Anywhere, because of some resident ASA expertise on our staff.

The app is only updated once a month, has 12 indexes for reporting, and the 20-30 users love their ability to BROWSE through the data. The system currently runs on Novell, but we do have some NT Servers available.

Also, we would like to be able to run the server without employing a DBA, especially since we don't foresee moving in that direction for any of our other apps at this time.

So my question is (finally):
Which do you think will be the easiest and most cost-effective to implement for this situation - ASA or MS SQL Server.

Any thoughts on performance and implementation issues would also be welcome.
