Ok, I guess I was a bit to brief. I was trying not to go off on a rant...
I agree with the return-on-investment concept. I was wondering if current sales of 7 are already enough that MS will want to ship 8? From what I saw in San Diego, I think that 8 will ship. I can't imagine things are such that MS would not ship what has already been developed. I could see a halt being put on future development. But until I hear of such a halt, I will blindly assume that all is well and we don't need to jump through any hoops.
But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.
