I was able to reproduce the error finally. The way I did it was to set the
*Comm.Settings = "9600,N,8,1"
Comm.Settings = "256000,S,4,1.5"
These are invalid setttings for my machine, and it returned the error.
Based on this, I would assume that one or more of the parameters you are passing in the settings property is incorrect. You can find more help in comm98.chm help file, on my machine was located at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\MSDN98\98VSa\1033\COMM98.CHM". I hope this helps you out, let me know what you find.
