Sorry for being so lazy in answering, and thank you, your message sort of solved my problem. The key is "These are invalid setttings for my machine", yes this piece of code did work on other machines. I dont know why, but on my Toshiba Portable this didn't work, i've tried the settings you've proposed, but it didn't worked either, maybe a hardware problem.

>Based on this, I would assume that one or more of the parameters you are passing in the settings property is incorrect. You can find more help in comm98.chm help file, on my machine was located at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\MSDN98\98VSa\1033\COMM98.CHM".
