To add to the other's replies...another benefit to being independent is that VS.NET (which is really the question) is that we are not tied to VS.NET release schedule. Remember, VS.NET is still a beta, it's not a release product.

Probably not, since (per recent conversation here) service packs would not be the place to implement such a major new version as would be required.

I _hope_ not. I like VS.NET. A lot. But I would not want VFP to be rewritten for the platform.
