>< rof,l > and < lol >. Sometimes verifying the flight, even the night before, is not enough. When Andy and I flew to San Diego on September 8th, our flight was scheduled to leave at 7:45am, so we had to be up an an uncivilized hour to get to the airport. We checked the airline's web site the night before we left, and everything was scheduled to go at 7:45. Imagine our surprise when we checked in at the airport at 6:30am to be told that our flight had just taken off!
I had a similar experience for Palm Springs DevCon. First, the airline called to tell me that my original flight (the connection from Chicago to Palm Springs) had been cancelled. They wanted to rebook me to go Philly-Chicago-Dallas-Palm Springs (can you guess which airline? <g>). I said "no way". With a little pushing on my side, I got rebooked to go first class on a very early in the morning flight - I think 6:30 out of here.
Got to the airport and the Philly-Chicago flight was cancelled. They again wanted to send me through Dallas, where I'd only have like a 6-hour layover. I pushed very hard and got them to put me on United to Chicago. But the flight was leaving in like 20 minutes, so I got to run through the airport (American and United are 3 terminals apart in Philly) and had to carry my bag on. Needless to say, I wasn't in first class to Chicago and, of course, American wouldn't send me a voucher for first class some other time.
It was _not_ a good day.
