Some facts about the "Great Society" and a few other things too.

1. The majority of people on welfare were white.

2. 50% of the budget for welfare was for administration of the system at the Federal, State and Local governmental levels.

I was attending an evening college class in Sociology in the early 1970’s with a group of men and women. All the men were Viet Nam Veterans. Our teacher was a Ph.D. in Sociology (a true “bleeding heart”) who also worked for the welfare system during the day. We all had day jobs.

A number of us did some research on the topic of welfare and came up with the following suggestion. Abolish all administration of the welfare system! Go to all public places possible and place post cards allowing people to sign up for welfare. Anyone may apply who fills out a postcard. Our thinking was that most people are honest enough to apply for welfare if they need it. There will be some fraud however we thought the net result would be to save the taxpayers money. Administration of the welfare system is a problem.

Our teacher was not happy with our conclusion but we were. I still it is a good solution to welfare cost.

As for welfare being the cause of destroying the black family in America, our findings were very different. Allowing blacks to have the same opportunities as everyone else was key to maintaining the black family, which is destroyed all too often due to social economic reasons.

The question of the American family being a one parent entity is a serious issue regardless of ones color.
