It amazes me how many whites think that other races comprise the majority of the welfare rolls. In localities the majority race usually has the majority on welfare.

That low? I had a cynic once tell me that one should give a dollar and a dime to those soliciting for charitable organizations: the dollar was to make sure the dime gets to those in need. Have you noticed that the CEO's of the various public and private charitable institutions know how to pay themselves very well too. In fact, paying themselves with funds raised by their orgs seems to be the primary welfare activity of some of those orgs. Remember Larry Jones's Feed the Children, and the Virginia floods few years ago? He had cameras filming the delivery of a truck load, estimated at 10-15,000 lbs, of food and blankets to flood victims. He raised millions showing that film, but I read somewhere that the visit that was filmed was the only one he made there.

In this state social workers get bonuses for the number of children and elderly they pull into the state welfare system, so they push really hard. The state becomes the ward of the elderly and acquires and liquidates all their propery to pay for "social services" - which usually comprises being warehoused in 'nusing homes' I wouldn't let my dog stay in. That's another big welfare racket - paying $4,500/month for living at a nursing home. For $800/month one could get an excellent motel room with daily room service fresh blankets, floor and bathroom cleaning, free TV, pool, heating and air conditioning, etc..., and have $3,700 left over to pay for hospice nursing care, prepared food deliveries, cab fees, etc.. In a 'nursing home' they pay that much to share a 20'X20' room with bare tile and two hospitial beds, with one old TV that only gets local channels and doesn't work well, if at all.

>I was attending an evening college class in Sociology in the early 1970’s with a group of men and women. All the men were Viet Nam Veterans. Our teacher was a Ph.D. in Sociology (a true “bleeding heart”) who also worked for the welfare system during the day. We all had day jobs.

>A number of us did some research on the topic of welfare and came up with the following suggestion. Abolish all administration of the welfare system! Go to all public places possible and place post cards allowing people to sign up for welfare. Anyone may apply who fills out a postcard. Our thinking was that most people are honest enough to apply for welfare if they need it. There will be some fraud however we thought the net result would be to save the taxpayers money. Administration of the welfare system is a problem.

>Our teacher was not happy with our conclusion but we were. I still it is a good solution to welfare cost.

My Multicultural Diversity instructor was an old lefty from the Anti-VietNam war day, and still sported the clothes and hair styles that were worn as badges at that time. It was like he had entered a state of retarded development, like those guys who still dress, look and talk like Fonzy. It was a summer course and about %80 were teachers getting their certification renewed. Most of them just set quietly and after class, walking out, would make critical comments about the course content, and how devoid and separated from reality it was. But, you know me. My self and a retired Viking Scout pilot were constantly engaging him in his contradictions, assumptions and biases. He couldn't do anything about it because he had already promised everyone 'A's at the first class meeting, regardless of what we did - which is another typical symptom of the academic failure the course exemplified.

>As for welfare being the cause of destroying the black family in America, our findings were very different. Allowing blacks to have the same opportunities as everyone else was key to maintaining the black family, which is destroyed all too often due to social economic reasons.
>
>The question of the American family being a one parent entity is a serious issue regardless of ones color.

True.
