>We tend to interpret things on a level, which we understand and can relate to using “the tools of today”. This includes but is not limited to the meaning of words, phrases, laws, and events. An example of this is that in the United States it was not a violation of the law for a parent to kill his or her child until 1895. The first law to go on the books to this effect was created in New York City.

I did not know that.

>Now could we argue that this is a violation of separation of Church and State? I take your reference of: Deuteronomy 21:20-21 / Mark 7:10 / Exodus 21:15 / Exodus 21:17, and conclude that New York City enacted a law which violates this principle. We should let the ACLU take up this matter and return to a proper perspective of relations between parent and child as defined in the Bible. The State has no right to interfere with such matters.

Not at all. NYC did not violate this principle. It is immoral and wrong to commit murder, regardless of what one religious book or another says. Morality does not require religion. IOW, you can be moral and ethical without being religious.
