You're right, it's real easy just to say what is on our minds sometimes without regard to how it will be interpreted - regardless if we are right or not.

However, with years of experience both working for others and having others work for me, I've learned (to paraphrase something I heard some time ago) "that it is much easier to attract bees with honey - than is is to attract bees with vinegar..."

It may sound corny, but it sure seems to ring true based on my experiences. (i.e. I've never seen anyone respond positively to having their self-esteem beaten into the ground ...)
