>> I pushed very hard and got them to put me on United to Chicago. But the flight was leaving in like 20 minutes, so I got to run through the airport (American and United are 3 terminals apart in Philly) and had to carry my bag on. Needless to say, I wasn't in first class to Chicago and, of course, American wouldn't send me a voucher for first class some other time. <<
The interesting thing is that, even with the problems the airline industry is having as a result of the tragic events of September 11th, they still do not seem very compelled to give their best customers very good service.
Andy and I used miles to upgrade to first class when we went to San Diego. I have been hassling with the airline for a month trying to get the miles for the return leg of the flight re-deposited into our account since the flight was cancelled. I finally told them that if they can't get this resolved, I will just switch to an airline that might actually appreciate our business.
