>Secular Humanism is indeed a religion in that it 'believes' in the pre-emminence of man. IOW, man is god. You might say this is not so but if that is so then why two Manifestos? If those aren't written creeds I guess I don't know what they are. <g>Have you ever read about the Secular Humanist movement? Just read this short intro:
http://www.secularhumanism.org/intro/index.htm>By pre-defining the word 'religion' to mean only certain things Secularists have neatly defined themselves out of the issue. Silly really... It's still a system of beliefs otherwise why have a name?Belief in ourselves, beliefs in humanity. Not belief in a supernatural being that may or may not be there. When was the last time you saw a miracle?
Let's see. On September 11th,
- God was asleep at the wheel.
- God didn't know it would happen and was as surprised as everybody else.
- God did know it would happen but chose no stop it.
- God was overpowered by a more powerful God. The one that supports the terrorists.
- God had a beef with the the people that worked in lower Manhattan and decided to do something about them, so he actually allowed it to happen.
- There is no god and that was just a criminal act of some deranged men.
Following Occam's Razor, I choose the latter.
