Title:
Resources Consumed by various Classes
Folks,
We've all heard that different foxpro classes, such as button, form, line, custom, etc., have different requirements. Makes sense. A colleague tells me he first heard this from the venerable Jim Booth.
But I have never seen the actual numbers on this, and therefore I cannot evaluate when it matters and when it does not. If a form is the worst, what does "Worst" mean? Does it consume ten PERCENT more memory and take ten PERCENT longer to instantiate than the lightest class, or does it take ten TIMES more memory and take ten TIMES longer to instantiate?
Anybody know if hard numbers on this are published? Or can someone share a testing methodology to determine the footprint of various classes?
As always, TIA...
