George;

Perhaps the consultants:

1. Know something the rest of us do not.
2. Do not know any other technique.

It is sometimes hard for an employee to convince a company they know anything. Consultants are treated like demi-gods by many companies as persons with infinite knowledge and wisdom. I have been on "both sides of the fence".

Questioning a consultant can find displeasure with the company you work for. After all you are in effect questioning your companies ability to make “business decisions”. Politics is all a part of the game. It does not matter how “right” you are – just how you play the game.
