I know what you mean. I have lived in a couple of other countries, and some things just don't make it across the cultural divide.

I haven't seen it yet. But that's one of the nice things about DVD versions, you often get a lot of additional stuff that you don't usually get to see. The Matrix is one example: the technical material at the end about how they did the slow motion scenes was really interesting.
