>>Actually, it will be more like going back to live where I did when I was growing up (Hyde Park in Chicago) and after my wife and I were married (Evanston). Both are, for want of a better term, "college towns". With Hyde Park it's the University of Chicago, and Evanston has Northwestern.

We hated to have to leave Evanston. Really enjoyed it there.

>>The first thing my wife said after my daughter took her on a tour of the town was, "Geo, it reminds me of Evanston". I'd have to agree. My daughter has been emailing me real estate listing since.< bg >

She (my daughter) knew we were coming to scout out places to move to. So, on the premise of running an errand she took Mickey with her. That did it, and we did no other "scouting".

>>When we moved here in 1981, it wasn't usual to see farm machinery driving down the streets. Now, it's pretty much suburban USA.

>I understand that "Valpo" still has a small town feel to it. Folks here speak of it affectionately.

It sure does remind me of Evanston.< s >
