Hi Steven,

Let's see if I can set things straighter here. < s >

There are two highly-scalable, object-oriented, middle-tier components for accessing SQL Server data marketed by Red Matrix Technologies. (www.redmatrix.com)

1. DataClas/VFP: Designed with the VFP developer in mind. DataClas/VFP is 100% native VFP code. Originally developed and currently maintained *exclusively* by my partner, Rod Paddock.

2. DataClas/COM: Designed with the VB and ASP web developer in mind. DataClas/COM is 100% native VB code. Originally conceived of and designed by Rod Paddock. Initial version coded by John Petersen with all subsequent modifications and revisions made by Rod Paddock.

>Funny, that doesn't square with talk with you and others on many past occasions at conferences about your involvment in the creation and evolution of Dataclass.

Yes, John has been involved with the *evolution* of DataClas/VFP. The creation, nope. The creation, design, implementation, modification, and anything else related to DataClas/VFP is all Rod.

There are a number of people who have been helpful in the evolution of DataClas/VFP, including myself, JVP, and Val Mattison to name a few. How many people have helped INTL evolve over the years? I'm sure quite a few.

>That does not mean those who stepped back do not have a pecuniary interest.

Again, John will NEVER see a dime from DataClas/VFP. Zip, zilch, nada... he has zero ownership in the product.

>I suspect that if Rod and JD were rolling in it, without cutting you in, you'd sue them for it. I know I might.

And you would have absolutely no grounds to do so. Let's see how I can put this...John had nothing to do with DataClas/VFP from the beginning. The brilliance that is DataClas/VFP has always been Rod's baby. Rod and I marketed it through TakeNote for a while but have since switched all DataClas/VFP related marketing, sales, and support efforts to Red Matrix Technologies, Inc., of which Rod and I both own. John has zero interest in Red Matrix, zero.

>You and them scoffing this does not mean you don't have a pecuniary *and* personal interest in Dataclass.

Ahhhhh, I hope he has personal interest in DataClas/VFP. A personal interest in seeing Rod and I do well. < s > I've wished him well many times in his endevor into law school.

>I'm more than happy to keep talking about this as long as you want.

So would I! Publicity is publicity... though I'd like to rename the thread to "That DataClas/VFP is incredible!"

>So stuff it, bud. You don't fool me for a second. When you recommend a product, disclose your interests, because it's the right thing to do.

Ok, now let's talk DataClas/COM. Was John involved from the beginning with DataClas/COM? Yes he was, he coded it originally. As I stated before, DataClas/COM is written in VB and is marketed to the VB and web development community. Does he have a financial interest in DataClas/COM doing well? Yes he does.

Do I, Rod, John, or anyone else push DataClas/COM in the VFP section of the UT? Nope.

Does that clear anything up? If not, I'd be happy to add that John had nothing to do with the Evaluation Edition of DataClas/VFP being available for download at the Red Matrix Technologies website. < marketing g >
