Hi!

Victor, you cannot distribute just MSDE 2000 as is. You can distribute it ONLY as a part of some application that you made using Microsoft development tools with which you received MSDE. For example, you can make MS Office document with mail merge to MSDE 2000, and cannot distribute document + MSDE 2000. You can create VFP7 application working with MSDE 2000 as backend and distribute it. Read licensing notes again, carefully. Or did I misunderstood the information on that page? Do you know/have other URLs that contain newer information (that page is as of 20, August 2001)?

Sorry, but I do not want to make a mistake. It is better to overlimit the licensing issues then underlimit - when second, you can pay a lot once because violating licensing. SO I would like to never recommend the things I do not know for sure.

>>"MSDE 2000 is packaged in MSDN Universal Subscriptions (as part of the SQL Server CD-ROMs) for the purpose of developing desktop applications that are fully compatible with SQL Server 2000. With MSDN Universal Subscription licensing, you can develop, use, and redistribute MSDE 2000 as part of the applications you build, provided that you comply with the distribution terms listed in the master EULA. To view the license agreement, visit MSDN. You will need client access licenses (CALs) or processor licenses to deploy MSDE 2000 applications that access SQL Server back-end data and resources. "

>Hello Vlad. In this case, it's free as long as you don't connect to a true SQL Server. We checked carefully with MSFT here before redistribute our Low End apps.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
