I'm presently playing with the evaluation version, and it's not that hard. Though, I have read most of the stuff much before this, so I sort of knew what to expect, and didn't have too many surprises. The learning curve is smooth.

I'll try to fill in for the answers you skipped, though not all.

>>4. Why do I get an "Alias name already in use" error when running the CONSOLE.EXE program?

Just click on Ignore a few times. This happens in several places, whenever you run something from the menu, including the help, but doesn't hurt.

>>6. Whenever the HTML help attempts to load, I get the message 'Cannot open the file "file://%systemroot%\wwhelpicons.bmp".'

Didn't happen to me.

>>7. Will I be able to use the evaluiation version in my own application to test with or is this a canned version?

To an extent, and it would be able to run as long as you keep VFP up and running the server. Can't create an executable, and can't touch the supplied classes, so subclassing is sort of based on a black box - but the help was sufficient so far - whichever method I wanted to override in the subclasses, i could easily guess what it does and when to dodefault(). OK, not right away each time, but didn't take more than 2-3 tries.

Running with VFP all the time, no special problems about it. Version 4 has a separate setup70.exe which does the install for VFP7. Demo just works. I have to reinstall some dlls (that I reverted to pre-SP2 while trying to install a firewall... long story) so the MSDE doesn't work, and parts of the demo which require SQL server (or at least MSDE) also don't work - but that's all. Even the photo album part of the demo works; I "uploaded" a .jpg, and it showed up on the page right away.
