Well, if it's all but FUD, Bill Gates is genius enough getting a hammer only intended for his head starting from 4B US$. All MS products are gearing towards .Net except VFP. As I and my colleagues attends .NET seminars, MS is really in full force to making .NET technology a success, and they have the stuff to do it.

>Jess, a lot of what you're hearing in regards to .NET in my opinion is FUD from Microsoft. Look at all the articles about .NET might be a failure or that VB'rs don't like it or whatever. To be sure, .NET will gradually make inroads, but, it's not a sure thing and it will be slow - it usually is when radical change is involved...

Excuse me Claude, hearing and seeing in regards to .NET. Hearing are just 3rd party info. You are entitled to your opinion. VS.Net is not release yet but the enthusiasm and excitement among developers are already on intensity 7.

>I would advise you to use your VFP knowledge to work with .NET where possible. Good uses include using VFP mtdlls to interact with Web Services in .NET or calling VFP mtdlls from ASP.NET(using C# or VB.NET). As I've been saying, more than likely, .NET won't have many of the capabilites that VFP has had for some time now(at least initially and maybe never).

Really? Can you create WEB apps in VFP as fast as using .Net tools. In VFP, you'll be needing 3rd party tools but in .Net it's all but drag and drop.

>Why not use them together. You get to learn new tools and you can show the world that VFP can shine right along side .NET.

For now yes. But if I start using C# or VB.Net and reach some level of profeciency, do you think there are still compelling reasons of using VFP side by side? IMO and the way I see it, all I can do with VFP can be done with .NET tools. On the otherside, there are things that I can do with .NET tools but I can't in VFP without third party help. Before, the VB vs VFP is so interesting topic to throw argument with, but today, it's C#.Net vs VB.Net. Sure I can use existing MTDLLS but will gradually be converted into the tool of my choice.

>>Difficulties in learning a new language is just a secondary factor to us programmers. It's the availability of time. In a developing countries like us, we don't have our own computers at home. We rely on computers in the office. And while in the office, we stick to project completions. Well, it's not the fault of MS, it's the fault of our economy. :)))))
