What if I do not want to delete the records but yet I cannot really identify the original characters to reconstruct the data? I am hoping that there is a known solution-a third party tool out there maybe? I have seen it happening in my data files and it scares me. I should not just simply delete these corrupted records.

Evelyn,

Could you give an example of this? What bad characters? You could write routines that replace the characters with spaces (easy) or remove them (much more involved coding).
