Hi Jim,
SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE prop_numb = VAL("1065")
* or (VAL("1065") is the same as 1065 in this case)
SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE prop_numb = 1065
would return the records with value 1065 in the prop_numb field.
SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE prop_numb = 10655
* and
SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE ALLTRIM(STR(prop_numb)) == "10655"
Would return the records with value 10655 in the prop_numb field.

>I’ve got a form used to search for an address. In table Prop_97 I have a n(5) field named prop_numb. There are records that contain the number 10655. If I do:

SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE prop_numb = VAL("1065")

SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE prop_numb = VAL("10655")

SELECT * from prop_97 WHERE ALLTRIM(STR(prop_numb)) == ("10655")
>I get two records. Is there something fundamental I’m doing wrong in the second statement? Why don't I get any results?
