Hi Peter;

>In some existing more heavy function we open 69 tables at one time, and since all have a CDX, this comes to 138 physical files (no Memos).
>With our 1GH server, 950Mhz client, 100Mbit network, this opens in (about) 1.267 secs, but knowing that the according diskblocks to load will already have been cached at the server (this can't be cached at the client !). This is for the Dos-app and the Win app just the same (so Win is not faster as I stated earlier, but for sure not more slow too).

There is thousand of variables envolved in this equation:
PETER'S ENVIRONMENT------------------    KEVIN'S ENVIRONMENT------------
1     -  GHZ processor                   ?    - Ghz processor
100   -  Mbit network                    ?    - Mbit network
69    -  Tables                          11   - Tables
138   -  Physical files                  ?    - Physical files
?     -  Speed of harddisk               ?    - ditto
?     -  RAM server                      ?    - ditto
?     -  RAM client                      ?    - ditto
?     -  Windows Memory                  ?    - ditto
?     -  Other client's Applications     ?    - ditto
?     -  Other NT's tasks                ?    - ditto
--------------------------------------   --------------------------------
Last considerations:
. Is there NT or any other systems and both environment of servers/clients
. This is raining or not, this is snowing or not, for how many hours you are in the computer (these subjects are worth for systems of Microsoft) :))

..and a lot, much more. So, questions like this will still be a mystery for a lot, a lot of centuries.
